Chen Amit — Why Finance Can't Tolerate AI Hallucinations

In this episode

Chen Amit of Tipalti on why finance can't tolerate AI hallucinations, and how to bring AI to the office of the CFO with control.

Chen Amit is the co-founder and CEO of Tipalti, where he leads a company building software for finance teams. He’s a veteran high-tech executive and a repeat entrepreneur who’s spent his career creating products and business lines from scratch. Before Tipalti, he was CEO of Atrica, a Carrier Ethernet company that was acquired by Nokia-Siemens. Earlier, he co-founded and led Verix, a business intelligence software provider, and at ECI Telecom he founded the ADSL business unit and grew it to $100M in annual sales. Chen holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the Technion in Israel and an MBA from INSEAD.

In this episode, Chen explains why he’s always been drawn to building, and how that builder mindset shapes the way he leads—staying close to the work, going deep when it matters, and earning credibility by understanding the details. He then gets into why AI plays out differently in finance than in many other functions: when you’re dealing with payments, compliance, and audits, “close enough” isn’t good enough, and hallucinations aren’t something you can shrug off. The conversation stays practical, focusing on where AI can help the office of the CFO today by taking on routine work while keeping clear controls around what the system can decide and what still needs a human review. Chen also shares what it looks like to make an established company feel AI-native, how he personally uses AI tools for thinking and communication, and why hiring in this era is as much about curiosity and adaptability as it is about traditional experience. He closes with grounded advice on decision-making: use the data, but don’t fold at the first wave of objections when you know the direction is right.
